1984 — Medica-Lab is founded by Dr Hesham Swilam

In 1984, Dr Hesham Swilam founded the company that would become Medica-Lab, starting out in hospital and laboratory equipment trading rather than manufacturing — sourcing and supplying medical equipment to hospitals and clinics in Egypt.

That trading background shaped what came next: a close, practical understanding of what hospitals actually order, what fails in daily use, and where imported equipment falls short for local conditions — knowledge that would matter once the company moved into building its own products a decade later.
